To Learn Is To Grow

Evergreen Forest School is a new, all-outdoor, preschool program that serves children ages 3-6 that are fully potty-trained. We offer half-day care M-F from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Evergreen follows the same schedule as Buncombe County schools, aside from teacher work days. Evergreen is offering a summer camp starting June 16th that runs 9 weeks. The regular school year starts August 25th.

Our Story

Like all great things, we have to start somewhere. Lauren Greer, the founder of Evergreen, started the forest school so she could share with her community an affordable nature program, and spend more time with her children.

Our Values

At Evergreen, we value and encourage children to practice kindness to the earth and everyone in it. We value risk-taking in a natural environment as well as self-directed play. We value environmental awareness while supporting self-esteem and confidence in children. We value physical and mental health in all children.

Our Motivation

Our motivation is to get children outdoors more while they learn necessary life skills.  When children spend more time outside, they develop better gross motor skills and coordination. Being in nature also provides a calming environment and boosts mood, reducing stress and anxiety. There are also many opportunities  for children to interact with their peers, collaborate, and problem solve together through play.

Evergreen Forest School

We want to serve the WNC community after Hurricane Helene by providing affordable outdoor education that is accessible to all types of families.
